Epicor Kinetic consulting, scoped to what you actually need

Every engagement starts with the same question. What is the system supposed to do that it is not doing today? From there we scope the smallest piece of work that resolves it and price it up front.

01

Quote to Cash

Core Process

Quote to cash is the process that pays for everything else, and it is where a manufacturer feels ERP problems first. A quote that takes three days. An order that ships without the right paperwork. A job that closes at a cost nobody believes. An invoice that goes out late because someone was waiting on a pack slip.

We work the whole chain rather than one screen at a time. Quoting and estimating, order entry and configuration, methods and routings, job creation, planning and scheduling, production reporting on the floor, shipping, invoicing, and the cost that lands in the general ledger at the end. Every handoff between those steps is a place where work stalls or data goes wrong, and the handoffs are usually the real problem.

The outcome is a chain your team can run without side spreadsheets, with dates the customer can rely on and job costs your controller will defend.

Procure to Pay

Core Process

The buy side gets less attention than the sell side and causes just as much damage. Material that arrives late stops jobs. Material that arrives early ties up cash. Receipts that never get inspected hold up invoices, and invoices that will not match a purchase order end up on somebody's desk for a week.

We set up the full chain, from the demand signal that says buy this through requisition approval, purchase order, supplier confirmation, receiving, inspection, three way match, and payment. Supplier performance gets measured rather than guessed at, and buyers get a daily routine that fits in the time they actually have.

The outcome is buyers who trust what the system is telling them to order, and an accounts payable process where exceptions are rare enough to be worth investigating.

Business Process Reviews

Advisory

A business process review is the fastest way to find out why the ERP feels like it is fighting you. We walk the process end to end with the people who do the work, from quote through cash, and document what really happens rather than what the procedure says.

You get a written current state, a gap analysis against what Kinetic can do out of the box, and a prioritized list of fixes with rough effort and expected impact. Some items are training. Some are configuration. A few are development. Knowing which is which is most of the value.

Reviews run one to three weeks depending on scope and can be delivered remotely or on site.

  • Transaction level review in your environment
  • Current state process documentation
  • Gap analysis against standard Kinetic capability

System Audits

Assessment

Kinetic environments drift. Settings get changed to solve a problem on a Tuesday and never revisited. Customizations pile up with no record of why they exist. Security groups grow until nobody is sure who can do what. A system audit is a structured look at what your environment has actually become.

We work through configuration, master data quality, customizations and their upgrade risk, user security, integrations, and performance, then hand you a written findings document that ranks what we found by risk and effort. Every finding names the specific setting or record involved, so your team can act on it whether or not we do the work.

Audits are common before an upgrade, after an acquisition, when a new ERP owner inherits a system they did not build, or simply when leadership wants to know where things stand.

  • Master data quality and duplication analysis
  • Customization inventory and upgrade risk rating

Custom SOPs

Documentation

Most ERP documentation is written by somebody who already knows the answer, which is why it sits unread. We write standard operating procedures for the way your company actually uses Kinetic, in the order a person does the work, with the screens they will really see.

Procedures are built role by role. What a buyer does every morning. How a shipping clerk closes out a load. What the steps are when a job needs to be split. Each one is short, specific, and screenshot driven, which is what makes it survive contact with a new hire on their second day.

You get editable source files, not a locked PDF, so your team can keep them current as the system changes. Documentation is also the cheapest insurance there is against losing a key person.

Typical scope

  • Role based procedures for each department
  • Step by step instructions with current screenshots
  • Daily, weekly, and period close routines
  • Exception handling and who to call
  • New hire onboarding and training guides
  • Quick reference cards for the shop floor
  • Editable source files your team can maintain
  • Optional refresh after each Kinetic update

Epicor Development

Technical

Kinetic can be bent to fit almost any process. The question is whether the customization will still work after the next upgrade and whether anyone else can maintain it.

We write C# business process management directives, Epicor Functions, and REST integrations the way production code should be written, with clear naming, comments, error handling, and a document explaining why it exists. When we inherit someone else's customizations we start with a review, tell you what is safe, and retire what is not.

Where configuration will do the job, we say so and skip the code entirely.

Typical scope

  • Method and data directives in C#
  • Epicor Functions and REST endpoints
  • App Studio layers and Kinetic form work
  • Updatable BAQ and custom entry screens
  • Advanced print routing and document automation
  • Review and cleanup of inherited customizations
  • Upgrade readiness assessment for custom code

Implementation and Data Migration

Delivery

Whether you are standing Kinetic up for the first time, moving from Epicor classic, or rescuing a project that stalled, the work is the same. Configure the modules to the process, load clean data, test with real transactions, and do not go live until the pilot passes.

We handle DMT loads and the data cleanup that has to happen before them, because bad master data is the single most common reason a go live goes badly. Cutover gets rehearsed on a schedule everyone has seen in writing.

We also come in as a second set of eyes on an implementation another partner is leading.

Typical scope

  • Module configuration and setup workshops
  • Master data cleanup and DMT template build
  • Conference room pilot and test scripting
  • Cutover plan, rehearsal, and go live checklist
  • End user training and floor rollout
  • Post go live stabilization support
  • Independent project assessment and recovery

Reporting and Analytics

Visibility

The data is already in Kinetic. Getting it out in a form leadership will act on is the job. We build business activity queries that perform, dashboards that answer a specific question, and SSRS reports that look like they belong to your company.

Every reporting engagement starts with the decision the report is supposed to support. If a number will not change what someone does, we do not build it.

We also tune queries that are already in place and timing out.

Typical scope

  • BAQ design, tuning, and performance work
  • Kinetic dashboards, tiles, and application studio views
  • SSRS report development and form redesign
  • Operational KPI packages by department
  • Scheduled distribution and alerting
  • Data extracts for external analytics tools
09

Integration and Automation

Connected Systems

Kinetic rarely runs alone. Machines, scales, label printers, EDI partners, CAD systems, and time clocks all need to move data in and out cleanly. We build those connections and make them observable so a failure is noticed by the system rather than by a customer.

Automation gets the same treatment. If a person is retyping data that already exists in another system, that is a job for a scheduled function rather than an afternoon.

Every integration ships with logging, retry behavior, and a notification path so nobody finds out about a failed transfer from an angry customer.

Typical scope

  • Shop floor data collection and machine integration
  • EDI, CAD, and third party system connections
  • REST and service connect style automation
  • Scheduled functions and unattended processing
  • Barcode, label, and print automation
  • Monitoring, retry logic, and error notification

Managed Services and Support

Fractional ERP Admin

Most midsize manufacturers cannot justify a full time ERP administrator but still need one. Managed services fills that gap. You get a named person who already knows your configuration, your customizations, and your people, available on a predictable monthly basis.

The engagement covers the whole support stack. Tier 1 handles the daily questions, password and security group requests, printing problems, and the how do I get this screen to do that calls that otherwise land on your controller. Tier 2 handles the work behind those tickets, including configuration changes, BPM and query fixes, data corrections, integration failures, and coordination with Epicor support when a defect is genuinely theirs.

As fractional ERP administrator we also own the parts nobody has time for. Version updates get tested before they land, user security gets reviewed, the customization inventory stays documented, and there is a written roadmap of what the system should do next quarter rather than a pile of open requests.

Plans are sized in monthly hour blocks with unused hours rolling forward one month, and every ticket is logged so you can see exactly where the time went.
